What you are buying

The VELA 42BW is a fully assembled 4.2-inch e-paper desk display with a built-in rechargeable battery. It is configured from the free VELA app over Bluetooth and needs a 2.4 GHz WiFi network for the modes that fetch live data.

Several display modes read Hong Kong data sources — tunnel tolls, bus arrivals, fuel prices, weather, flights, sports grounds and Mark Six. These are only useful in Hong Kong. The clock, world clock and contact-number modes work anywhere.

Price and payment

The price is HK$499 including delivery within Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not levy VAT or sales tax, so no tax is added.

Payment is taken by Stripe at checkout. We never receive or store your card details. Your order is confirmed when Stripe confirms the payment and we email you a receipt.

The early-bird price applies to the first 50 units only. If the batch sells out while you are checking out, your payment will not be taken.

Delivery

We ship within Hong Kong only. We will email you a dispatch date before your unit ships.

This is a pre-order for a first production batch. Hardware schedules slip; if the dispatch date moves we will tell you by email, and you may cancel for a full refund at any point before your unit ships.

Please give an address where someone can receive the parcel. If a delivery fails because the address was wrong or incomplete, we may pass on the cost of re-delivery.

Cancellations, returns and refunds

You may cancel at any time before your unit ships, for a full refund. Email [email protected] with your order reference.

After delivery, you may return an undamaged unit in its original packaging within 14 days for a refund of the purchase price. Return postage is yours unless the unit is faulty or was sent in error.

If a unit arrives faulty or damaged, tell us within 14 days and we will arrange a replacement or a full refund including return postage.

Refunds go back to the card used at checkout, normally within 10 business days of us receiving the return.

Warranty

VELA carries a 12-month warranty from delivery against manufacturing defects. It does not cover accidental damage, liquid damage, a cracked e-paper panel from impact, or normal battery capacity loss over time.

The warranty does not affect your statutory rights under Hong Kong law.

Software and updates

The VELA app is free. Firmware updates are delivered over WiFi and are optional; a VELA that is never updated keeps working with the modes it shipped with.

Modes that read live data depend on third-party sources. We may add, change or retire a data mode if its source changes or becomes unavailable.
